GCU's integrated Master’s programme in Optometry (UCAS code B515) prepares students to become qualified optometrists, equipping them with expertise in detecting, diagnosing, and managing eye and vision conditions. Optometrists play a vital role in identifying sight problems, prescribing and dispensing aids like spectacles and contact lenses, and addressing disorders such as infections, inflammations, cataracts, and glaucoma. The programme delivers comprehensive training in optometry theory and practice, enabling graduates to provide essential and advanced eyecare services to communities across Scotland and beyond.From the start, students receive instruction in fundamental vision science and clinical care, developing critical thinking and decision-making skills. They hone their abilities in a dedicated on-campus Vision Centre and through extensive external placements. The programme is accredited by the General Optical Council, affirming its professional standards.
