Geographical science addresses global challenges such as climate change and environmental risks. This research-led BSc in physical geography equips students with essential skills for diverse career opportunities through a flexible program at a world-leading research center. The degree begins with a broad foundation in human and physical geography, including compulsory modules and residential fieldwork. In subsequent years, students progress to specialized content in physical geography and environmental research, with options for integrated modules, overseas fieldwork, a placement year, or study abroad. The program culminates in an independent research project, fostering transferable skills for high employability.Core Year 1 modules introduce human geography concepts, research methods, and physical geography themes, supplemented by optional topics like crisis geographies and climate change. What you will learn

Year 1 Core modules: Human Geography: Space and Place in a Changing World introduces the core concepts of human geography along with the approaches used to understand these concepts in response to specific societal challenges. A variety of case studies is used to illustrate the content. Introduction to Geographical Research (BSc) covers a variety of methods for research and analysis used in human geography and how to select the appropriate methods for a range of geographical contexts. Physical Geography covers a broad range of interlinking themes in physical geography, using scale, from global to local, as the organising framework.
