About the course

Our BSc Archaeology programme centres on the scientific study of the human past, providing a strong foundation in the theory and application of scientific principles, data, and techniques in archaeology, from molecular levels to large-scale sites. As a student, you will cultivate critical, analytical, and transferable skills for careers in archaeological science, academia, research, or diverse sectors. With strengths in bioarchaeology, materials science, digital archaeology, and field methods, the programme delivers practical experience in analytical techniques, data processing, and research design, allowing you to explore topics of interest within broader archaeological contexts like Britain and the Mediterranean.A key feature includes eight weeks of professional placements, typically on excavations or in laboratories and museums, occurring in the UK and abroad after Years One and Two. Supported by expert staff and state-of-the-art facilities, you will undertake an independent research project, fostering skills valued by employers. Graduates emerge with hands-on expertise in scientific methods, ready for roles in heritage, teaching, or other fields, equipped with teamworking, leadership, and communication abilities.
