About the course

The Brunel Automotive Engineering BEng programme equips students passionate about motor vehicles with specialized expertise for careers in the dynamic automotive industry. It provides a strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including mathematics, engineering science, and design, alongside in-depth knowledge of automotive systems such as vehicle design, performance, engines, transmissions, materials, structures, and safety. Students gain hands-on experience troubleshooting issues during development and testing, with access to the Centre for Advanced Powertrain and Fuels (CAPF) for research on emissions reduction and fuel efficiency, plus modern laboratories and industry-standard software. The course offers flexible study options: a three-year full-time route or a four-year version with a professional placement. Accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, it fulfills requirements for Incorporated Engineer registration and partially for Chartered Engineer status. This prepares graduates to meet growing demand for skilled engineers in the evolving automotive sector, enabling leadership roles in industry and public service.
