Biochemistry is the study of the structure, composition, and chemical reactions of substances in living organisms. The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry program equips students for diverse careers in biochemistry and related fields requiring technical expertise, with many graduates advancing to graduate studies in biochemistry, chemistry, or engineering.Students explore subjects such as general, organic, physical, analytical, and inorganic chemistry, along with biology, microbiology, and genetics. The program provides extensive research opportunities and mentorship, utilizing modern laboratories in the Beeghly Building. Students engage in various research projects through internships, independent study, or cooperative programs, often at renowned institutions like the National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, and National Institute of Standards and Technology.
