About the course

Acquire the practical experience, scientific knowledge, and engineering skills essential for launching a career in music technology or audio engineering. Gain access to state-of-the-art computer design labs, multi-speaker surround sound systems, multimedia studios, and an anechoic chamber to explore synthesiser technology, MIDI, audio recording, sampling, and digital audio signal processing. Beyond understanding applications in music production and recording, apply engineering expertise to design and build next-generation audio technologies. Individual and group projects throughout the degree foster practical, organisational, management, and business skills, preparing graduates for confident roles as audio engineers, designers, researchers, or engineering managers.This fully accredited BEng combines professional electronics with audio and music technology, leveraging expertise from the University of York AudioLab. Identical to the BEng Music Technology Systems, students may select their preferred degree title based on career interests. All courses offer an optional year in industry before the final year, providing workplace experience with School assistance in securing placements and academic support through regular visits and meetings.
