The BSc (Hons) Midwifery programme, accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), enables graduates to register as midwives and delivers a woman-centred learning experience that fosters confident, compassionate practice. Students build a strong foundation in midwifery roles, critical thinking, and leadership skills to advance the profession, while developing interpersonal abilities through teamwork with service users, families, and healthcare professionals at UWE Bristol's Glenside campus. The course features practical training with enthusiastic academics who are former midwives, including about half the time on clinical placements supported by mentors. Students engage with service users, midwives, researchers, and medical students in real and simulated settings, such as the Simulation Suite and Birth Room. Career prospects are strong, with opportunities in hospital and community roles, including specialisation, management, lecturing, or research.
