Our BSc Microbiology programme provides an in-depth study of the planet's most influential microorganisms, enabling students to participate in research projects with global significance. You will explore the fundamental properties, genetics, and physiology of diverse microbes, with options to specialise in areas such as medical, environmental, or food microbiology. The course includes opportunities for a year-long industrial placement or paid vacation studentship to build practical experience. Emphasising hands-on learning, you will master techniques in microbial genetics, biochemistry, and propagation, culminating in a three-month original research project in your final year.
