About the course

Our BSc in Biological Sciences with Professional Experience programme allows students to tailor their biological knowledge to specific interests while gaining essential industry exposure. This four-year course features a professional placement year between the second and third years, enabling practical application of academic learning.The curriculum offers a range of optional modules, permitting specialisation in areas such as ecology, wildlife, human biology, conservation, or biomedical topics like human physiology and disease mechanisms. Students will explore practical laboratory techniques in molecular genetics and cell biology, and undertake an 11-week original research project using advanced facilities. Sample modules include Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life, Fundamentals of Microbiology, History of Life on Earth, Marine Biology and Conservation, Venoms and Poisons, and Evolution in Health and Disease, though availability is subject to university approval.
