About the course

Our BSc in Biochemistry with Professional Experience explores the molecular foundations of life through a structured, layered curriculum. In the first year, students focus on molecular and cellular concepts, progressing in the second year to examine the effects of biochemical processes on organs and organisms. The final year delves into advanced topics, including cutting-edge research, human diseases, and structural biology. This flexible four-year programme allows for optional modules to align with individual interests and includes a professional placement year between the second and final years. For further details, visit our course page.Sample modules for 2025/26, subject to final approval, include Fundamentals of Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life, Medical Genetics, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Protein Structure and Function, and Venoms and Poisons: From Pharmacology to Therapeutics. Note that module availability cannot be guaranteed, and updated information will be available on our website in the summer of 2024.
