This course explores the critical balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability, addressing how businesses can sustain profits while responsibly managing resources and contributing to solutions for the global climate crisis. Students will apply their knowledge through practical experiences, studying key principles of innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. The curriculum examines human interactions with the planet, the influence of government policies on businesses and individuals, and options for international study or industry placements at partner institutions in regions like Canada, Europe, the USA, China, and Malaysia.The program is delivered on award-winning, environmentally sustainable campuses, such as Jubilee with its lakes and wildlife, and the expansive University Park. In the first year, foundational modules cover human geography, geographical information science, organisational behaviour, and markets. Year two focuses on core geography topics, including economic geography and dissertation preparation. In the final year, students undertake a dissertation on a business-related geographical theme, alongside advanced modules tailored to their career goals, equipping them for professional success in a sustainable future.
Your first year covers the foundation of human geography and geographical information science, as well as organisational behaviour, consumers and markets. In year two, you will take core modules in geography, including those related to economic geography and preparation for your dissertation. In year three, the dissertation is the only core module and you are encouraged to select a business-related aspect of geography to study. Alongside this, you will choose from a range of advanced geography and business modules, appropriate to your degree and career aspirations.
