About the course

This course offers a comprehensive exploration of world history, covering essential themes such as gender, race, and global imperialism. Students will examine diverse geographical regions and span 1,500 years of history, from the fall of the Roman Empire to the post-Communist era. Additionally, it provides an in-depth study of ancient Greek and Roman history, societies, and political ideas, with the option to learn a classical language in the first year and continue it in subsequent years.Exeter's rich historical environment, including museums, art galleries, and architectural heritage, enhances the learning experience, supported by the University Library's extensive collections. Research centres focused on areas like Medical History and Medieval Studies foster interdisciplinary activity with international recognition. Students can engage through the Student-Staff Liaison Committee to influence their degree and participate in the History Society's events, such as guest speakers and trips.
