About the course

This history course allows students to examine changes in society, culture, politics, and religion across history, applying these insights to modern theories and practices. The University of Exeter provides a vibrant campus environment, featuring cultural facilities like the Exeter Northcott Theatre, Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, Lemon Grove, Great Hall as music venues, and Roborough Studios for student theatre. The curriculum spans periods from the Roman Empire to the 1960s, exploring diverse topics such as the Vikings, early medieval empires, the Norman Conquest, and magic and witchcraft in early modern Europe. Students learn to gather evidence through libraries, archives, the internet, interviews, languages, palaeography, and environmental fieldwork.
