Mathematics and Physics, MSci (Hons)

The MSci programme integrates undergraduate and postgraduate modules in mathematics and physics, leveraging their natural interconnections. Students will develop a strong foundation in mathematics to understand core physics concepts, covering both pure and applied areas. By graduation, you will be equipped to apply mathematical techniques to practical problems, with extensive use of computational software to prepare for industry roles.Simultaneously, the course builds a deep understanding of physics, from astronomical phenomena to quantum mechanics, while advancing knowledge in classical and modern fields. Learning draws from staff research in topics like biophysics, advanced materials, and photonics. MSci students explore advanced subjects such as electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, fluid dynamics, and stochastic processes. The Physics society offers social events, including trips to CERN and peer support, to aid your academic journey.
