This course integrates Theatre and English studies, equipping students with essential skills to understand and create performances through critical and historical analysis, alongside practical workshops. Opportunities include engaging with professional theatre practitioners and the museum-accredited Theatre Collection. In the first year, Theatre focuses on performance analysis and skill development, while subsequent years offer options to deepen expertise, leading to independent projects, group or individual performances, dissertations, extended essays, or industrial placements. For English, students explore literature from the medieval period to the present, including detailed analysis of poetry, fiction, and drama, along with theoretical approaches. The first two years cover successive literary periods, complemented by studies of specific authors, topics, and genres. In later years, options include research-led special subjects and creative writing, with the chance to complete a dissertation in the third year.
