Politics and Portuguese, BA (Hons)

This programme integrates politics and international relations with Portuguese language studies, starting from beginner level. Spoken in diverse countries like Angola and Brazil, Portuguese is increasingly valued due to their political significance, offering a skill set tailored for global workplaces. Students explore the politics of nations, governments, and international relationships, organised around themes such as political theory, comparative politics, and international relations.Participants follow a structured Portuguese course advancing to degree level, while delving into the literature, cinema, history, and culture of Portuguese-speaking communities. The third year abroad enhances language and cultural knowledge. Teaching includes lectures, seminars, and assessments like essays and presentations, developing employable skills. Access to a state-of-the-art Multimedia Centre and extracurricular activities, such as language cafés and talks, enriches the learning environment.
