Geophysics and meteorology offer a dynamic and varied learning experience, with your studies beginning with a broad foundation in Earth sciences and environmental topics. As you progress, you'll build on this base by exploring new subjects, developing independence, and gaining confidence. Our three geophysics degree streams share identical entry requirements and a common first year, allowing flexibility to switch between them until the end of Year 1. From Year 2, programmes become more specialised, with shared courses enabling potential transitions to related Earth science or environment degrees, provided prerequisites are met.Option courses in Years 1 and 2 provide opportunities to study electives inside or outside your field, enhancing your Scottish undergraduate experience. We prioritise high-quality education, so changes to courses or field trips may occur for safety and standards; alternatives will be offered to ensure learning outcomes are achieved. Field trip accessibility is a key focus, with accommodations for those unable to attend. Discuss your options with your Cohort Lead to align with your interests.
