About the course

Our faculty holds an international reputation for research and innovation, offering unparalleled access to diverse clinical settings. The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) programme is accredited by the Australian Medical Council on behalf of the Medical Council of New Zealand. Entry is highly competitive and limited, with selection based on academic merit, performance in the University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ), and personal qualities demonstrated during the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). Each year, 257 domestic places are available. There are two application categories: first-year entry, for applicants from the Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) at the University of Auckland; and graduate entry. School leavers must apply through the first-year category. Please note that applications are limited to once per category—first-year only in the year of study and graduate entry per qualifying programme. Entry criteria may vary annually, applicants must sit the UCAT ANZ in the application year, shortlisted candidates will undergo an MMI, and special entry schemes exist for domestic students.
