The MBChB programme is accredited by the Australian Medical Council on behalf of the Medical Council of New Zealand. Entry is limited and competitive, with selection based on academic merit, University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ) performance, and personal qualities assessed via Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). There are 317 domestic places available annually.Applicants may apply via two categories: First Year entry from the University of Auckland's BHSc or BSc (Biomedical Science), or Graduate entry. School leavers must apply through First Year entry. Note: First Year applications are permitted only once, in the year of study, and require fewer than three aegrotat or compassionate passes. Graduate applications are limited to once per qualifying programme. All applicants must sit the UCAT ANZ in the application year; shortlisted candidates attend an MMI. Special entry schemes exist for domestic students; criteria may vary annually.
