About the course

Drawing upon our internationally recognised expertise in social, cultural, political, and economic geography, this human geography course is designed to deepen your understanding of the causes and solutions to major global challenges. It introduces theories and methods to explore the interplay between society and space, helping you analyse geographical processes from historical events to future trends, and from local shifts to worldwide patterns. You will gain hands-on experience with qualitative research techniques, applying them in Manchester and beyond, while pursuing specialised pathways in environmental sustainability and Geographical Information Systems. The programme offers fieldwork opportunities in the UK or overseas each year, along with options for a four-year route that includes studying abroad or undertaking a professional placement in your third year. We take pride in our top-three ranking for sustainability (People and Planet League 2023), our £115m investment in new facilities like the Dalton building, membership in the United Nations Academic Impact, and free Carbon Literacy training to enhance employability and promote sustainable development.

A local representative of Manchester Metropolitan University in Singapore is available online to assist you with enquiries about this course.
