About the course

La Trobe's Bachelor of Commerce equips you with the transferable and technical skills essential for success in the fast-changing realms of business and public policy. Co-designed with industry leaders, this course offers a unique multidisciplinary skill set and knowledge base that employers and policymakers highly value. Students can tailor their education through a variety of double degrees, majors, and minors, choosing from primary majors like Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing, alongside approximately 70 other options across the University.A standout feature of the program is its entrepreneurial core, comprising three interconnected subjects that build critical graduate capabilities. You will learn to identify solutions to real-world challenges, enhance your communication and negotiation skills with stakeholders, and ultimately develop the ability to implement these solutions in practical settings. These competencies foster effective leadership, preparing you to navigate the complexities of automation, AI-driven technologies, and big data in today’s dynamic environment.

What you will learn

Marketing provides organisations with the means to communicate their value propositions to their target audience. Through effective marketing practices, organisations can promote the benefits of their offerings (i.e., products and services) to their audience, highlighting the advantages of their offerings as opposed to their competitors. The Marketing major equips you with the knowledge and skills across the areas of overall processes and practices in marketing, integrated marketing communications, consumer behaviour, brand management, marketing research, social marketing, international marketing, and marketing strategy. This dynamic and in-depth portfolio of skills will enable you to identify marketing problems and opportunities and develop actionable solutions for them—skills integrated into the Marketing major. As a graduate of the Marketing major, you will be able to showcase your problem-solving skills in the dynamic field of marketing.
