About the course

Upon completing this five-year programme, you will acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviours necessary to register with the General Dental Council (GDC), enabling you to undertake Dental Foundation Training (DFT) and enter the dentistry profession.Located in the University Dental Hospital on Cardiff University’s Heath Park campus, the School of Dentistry offers clinical teaching in a supportive, small-scale environment with around 100 undergraduates per year. Students gain hands-on experience with diverse patients, including those with rare oral conditions, in a refurbished clinical skills laboratory and alongside dental therapists and hygienists. Access to a dedicated library, IT facilities, and top-ranked teaching—rated first in the UK by the Guardian and Times guides in 2016—ensures excellent preparation. With 99% of 2015 graduates securing DFT placements, the programme boasts outstanding employability.
