Over 94% of our Biological Sciences research is rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021). This course equips you to explore pressing questions, such as curing cancer, combating Alzheimer’s, protecting endangered species, and preventing global epidemics. You’ll build critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills, with a strong foundation in biology, focusing on areas like cell and molecular biology, evolution, ecology, neuroscience, and behaviour. From the first year, gain hands-on lab and field experience, including trips to the South Downs National Park, Wales, Ecuador, Portugal, Southern Africa, and the Red Sea.At Sussex, you’ll learn from experts addressing real-world issues, such as cancer treatments and bee population decline, with opportunities for third-year research projects. The program prepares you for diverse careers in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, sustainability, and scientific communication. We offer this as a four-year MSci option.
