“The devil is in the details”, and the Ghostbuster of the financial world to find out about the details of each deal is the Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst sniffs out the good and bad deals in the World of mergers, acquisitions, and Finance. Unlike Academia, their calls will judged and accounted for by those that read their reports and put money into the deals they recommend.


Financial analysts gather information, assemble the data into spreadsheets, and write analysis and reports. In addition, they review all non-legal pertinent information about prospective deals. They examine the feasibility of a deal and prepare a plan of action based on their financial analysis. A Financial Analyst needs to be aware of the financial trends, latest news that will affect the markets, the markets movements, and industry profiles.

They will also needs to be creative in acquiring their information and data. Not all data are publicly available, an analyst will need to meet and greet their industry peers to get the “lowdown” on certain trends in the markets. In addition they will also need to visit certain businesses to get a “look and feel” of the industry of company they are researching on.

The job of the Financial Analyst involves long and arduous hours, but those that generate any form of success will inevitably move on to greater pastures or start out on their own with their following of clients.
