Civil Engineer
Civil engineers are responsible for creating modern infrastructure - from roads, bridges and tunnels to skyscrapers and sewer systems.
These professionals are intimately involved in construction project management throught its three main phases; preconstruction, implementation, and maintenance.
The preconstruction phase involves detailed planning on the part of the civil engineering team; involving land surveyance, reviewing construction plans, assessing funding and needs, then making decisions pertaining to schedule, materials, and staffing.
The implementation stage is where the action begins. During this stage, civil engineers spend considerable time on-site to monitor progress and coordinate construction efforts.
This is followed by infrastructure maintenance (essentially post-construction quality testing), during which the civil engineer performs stress tests, quality assessments, and provides maintenance support.
For centuries, civil engineers have toiled to redefine and enhance mobility and accessibility; changing the way we live through the modification of our environment.
