You will typically have to raise a formal request with the university's admissions office if you need to defer your offer. In some cases, you may need to accompany your deferment request with an explanation on the reason for your deferment.

The university may then update your offer for the next intake, or they may decide to reject your deferment request and request that you re-apply when you are ready (with no guarantee of acceptance).
