Electrical engineers design and develop technologies for generating and processing power, with their equipment facilitating the distribution of electrical energy—such as through smart grid systems for renewable sources—and supporting various manufacturing sectors. These innovations also power hybrid and electric vehicles, trains, ships, and aircraft. This course equips you with specialised electrical knowledge and skills to contribute to a sustainable future, emphasising lab-based projects for individual and team-based problem-solving and design. In year three, you undertake an industry placement, remaining registered with the university and meeting regularly with a tutor. The first two years share content across electrical and electronic courses, allowing specialisation thereafter. This five-year MEng programme offers deeper insights into electrical engineering than the BEng, serving as the preferred path to Chartered Engineer status.
