On this immersive course, you will focus on both national and international perspectives in contemporary politics, exploring the political practices behind the headlines and the theories that seek to explain current and past political events. You will study the significance of an increasingly globalised political environment and analyse politics as a basic human activity, one which both defines and creates the world in which we live.Although 21st-century politics increasingly takes place at a global level, it continues to be experienced primarily in our everyday lives, influencing our struggles against discrimination, our hopes for a better future and our actions as consumers, employees, citizens and activists. You will be encouraged to engage directly as political scientists and theorists, pursuing your own independent research, reaching your own conclusions and culminating in a final year dissertation that explores an important political issue of your own choice.Modules include:• Political Ideologies in Conflict• British Political History: From civil war to European union• Young Citizens, Place and Belonging• Leadership, Activism and Campaigning
