About the course

This double degree prepares you for a career in both the clinical and business sides of health care, with an emphasis on:

  • clinical coding
  • health data analytics
  • digital health
  • informatics
  • and management
These are all key factors in enabling the Australian healthcare system to function effectively.In your first year, you'll learn the foundations of human bioscience. Over the next three years, you'll go on to specialise in health information systems. Your subjects will cover everything from:
  • anatomy
  • physiology and medical terminology
  • health informatics
  • management of electronic health information systems
  • electronic medical records
  • coding and classification of diseases
  • health data analytics
  • and health information ethics and law.
Professional placements are an integral part of this course and these prepare students for their post-graduation professional workplaces. In second year, you'll complete five days of supervised professional placement, followed by 15 days in third year and 45 days in fourth year.If you choose, you can finish your degree after three years to graduate with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Medical Classification).
