This is one of the few courses of its kind in Australia, designed and delivered in collaboration with industry professionals. It allows you to combine your passion for sport with knowledge of the business aspects of the industry, offering on-the-job training and a focus on meeting the specific needs of rural and regional communities. In first year you'll learn the fundamentals of business, economics and finance along with key principles of sport marketing and sport management. In second year you'll build an understanding of the relationship between sport and the media, as well as studying core subjects in sport and exercise psychology, sport development and sport policy. In your final year, you'll apply what you've learned in a 200-hour work placement, where you'll analyse current practices, apply sport development and management theory, and develop industry connections. Alongside your placement, you'll undertake workshops that develop your employability, as well as study core subjects in volunteer management and sport strategy and governance. You can further tailor your degree with a choice of electives in public health, management, economics, law, finance, marketing or physical and outdoor education. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in overseas business studies with our partner universities such as University of Stirling (Scotland), University of Bayreuth (Germany), University of Windsor (Canada) and University of Oregon (USA). Our unique industry Professors of Practice work within this course to improve course curriculum, student learning experience, and engage with industry and business.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 7.
