About the course

BA (Hons) Product and Furniture Design focuses on the design and development of creative, contemporary and innovative products and furniture, considering user-centred design, social context and commercial understanding.Underpinned with strong contemporary design thinking, you will be encouraged to explore materials, techniques and processes in relation to scales of manufacture, from one-off bespoke design to design for standardised mass production.Product and furniture designers have the unique opportunity to recognise the hidden impacts of products. You will be introduced to design strategies to find the best ways of meeting needs and fostering positive change through sustainable design.You will have the opportunity for continual practical skills development within our extensive workshops. You will be introduced to a range of materials and utilise both analogue and digital processes, from slip casting ceramics and plywood moulding to design for waterjet cutting and 3D printing.
