Special Education Teacher
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. This is especially true for children with special needs as they require to learn the life skills that can enable their lives. A Special Education Teacher is tasked with the education of students with special needs in a way that addresses each student’s individual differences and needs.
As a Special Education Teacher you will come across children with special needs like: Downs syndrome, autism, learning disabilities, communication challenges, emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, and developmental disorders. You will need to use different approaches, technology, and a specifically adapted teaching area to provide for students with special needs. Also, each student will have different disabilities, so you will need to be especially mindful of their strengths and weaknesses.
The Special Education Teacher requires patience and a tremendous desire to work with children who have very special needs. You have to manage all of the activities in the classroom while effectively delivering your curriculum. With its many challenges, Special Education Teachers will find this a particularly rewarding career.
