As the name suggests, the job encompasses a broad scope. You will be expected to achieve marketing and sales objectives by developing and implementing marketing and sales plans. You will plan, execute, and fine tune all aspects of the job, macro-planning and sometime micro-managing.
Sales and Marketing Manager advise sales representatives on ways to improve their sales performance. In large multiproduct organizations, they oversee regional and local sales managers and their staffs.
Sales and Marketing Managers also stay in contact with dealers and distributors. They analyze sales statistics that their staff gathers, both to determine the sales potential and inventory requirements of products and stores and to monitor customers' preferences.
This is a big job, and accomplishing it well will not only win you favor with your employers, but also give you a mastery of the product line and markets in which you operate – making you a value to other companies in similar businesses.
