Doctor
A Doctor devotes his practice to assessing and treating general medical ailments. They typically practice in the neighbourhood setting and cares for the health of families living in that area. They diagnoses and treat a large variety of diseases and conditions but does have the option of referring certain conditions to a specialist for further investigation and management.
The Doctor is also known as a “family doctor”. The job scope of the Doctor is fairly diverse. You may see patients that bring their children in for swallowing a coin to more severe cases where you have to refer then to a hospital with the facilities that can properly treat them.
A Doctor may run specialist clinics for patients with specific conditions such as skin care. They increasingly work as part of a team alongside other healthcare professionals, including community health doctors, to discuss care options for patients and their families and help patients to take responsibility for their own health.
A Doctor needs to have very good bedside manners to be able to put patients at ease as well as to properly communicate their questions and instructions. Doctors are usually located within the communities they serve so it is very possible that they will form long-term relationships with patients and their families. This makes the job of a Doctor profoundly enriching.
