Chemist
Chemists use a diverse range of methods to investigate the chemical nature of substances and find new uses and applications for them. If you want to get paid to be creative while carefully producing something for the future, this is the career for you.
Chemists work closely with other experts, including chemical engineers, who plan the production and development of discoveries made by chemists; sales teams, who put a marketing “spin” on their products; and academic chemists, who share information at cutting-edge levels. They have a constant desire to search for the ability to manipulate matter and make more useful materials.
A Chemist builds on other’s findings, so they have to be well read. They would devour professional journals to keep abreast of the latest research findings as these new discoveries may have a direct impact (positive and negative) on their own particular work.
Chemists usually work in teams; therefore their teamwork skills are "essential" to success in this field. Specific duties may include modeling, analysis, synthesis, research, fieldwork, and sales information management. With the multi-discipline skills that Chemists needs to master, many of them become entrepreneurs, research managers, and hazardous waste managers, as well as software and sales engineers.
