Aeronautical engineering is the most complex and technically demanding engineering discipline. Aeronautical engineers are renowned for using the latest computational methods and most advanced cutting edge materials to develop their flying structures.
An aeronautical engineer's core expertise is in fluid dynamics - the modelling of particles in the air to determine its exact course (and impact) on a flying body. Even the tiniest of structures can cause turbulence which will significantly hinder the performance of their designs. As a result, aeronautical engineers are among the most analytical and detailed engineers around.
One can expect to spend plenty of time working with the latest software, wind tunnels and extremely precise measurement instruments. Making 600 tonne heaps of aluminium hurtle through the air at speeds of 1000 km/h requires pushing the laws of physics to the absolute limits.
